Trek's Waubesa Trek's Waubesa is our featured bike because it is a perfect, low-maintenance bike for getting around a hilly town like York and the Seacoast, especially a bit inland. Simple lines are complimented by the 8sp Shimano internal hub gear drive system to give you a bike as uncluttered as it is useful.
No derailleurs or mechanics needing constant adjustment, this drivetrain is about as maintenance-free as it gets. 8 speeds to get you spinning up The Nubble, or a top gear for serious cruising at speed along Long Sands Beach. Also, you don't have to pedaling to shift -- if you come to a stop in the wrong gear, shift to where you want to be and you'll be on your way in a lower gear with no muss, no fuss. Outfit it with accessories like fenders, racks, lights, etc., and you can customize it to your needs -- stripped down for simplicity and fitness, or accessorized for utility and commuting. This is truly a do-anything bike. Gear-head trick feature: flip flop dropouts -- there's a "derailleur hanger bolted onto each side of the bike. Comes set up in horizontal dropout configuration for singlespeed/fixed gear/IGH use; swap the dropout hardware around and you can convert the bike to derailleur drivetrain. Choice is good! |
